I think the surrealist aspect of this piece is astounding. The blending of the sources is well done, and I personally love that the wings are unaffected by the flames, like the mythological pheonix. However, it would change the entire mood of the piece if they were. A few tatters and perhaps some loose feathers perhaps set to flame along the edges...would dramatically change the entire mood. It would go from an enlightening surreal with a hopeful tone to a dark surreal laced with defeat. I have to say I like the feelings it portrays now, but can also see its counterpart as well. Reply »

In symbolism the realism is secondary, cause otherwise it would interfere with the message.
The Fire is a burning desire, which doesn't affect the Wings of hope, but lack of patience makes your skin itchy and like you're crumbling inside, while the Fruit- object of desire is well rooted in your mind. No head = loosing it for something you want.
Someday you gotta tell us where you get all this inspiration, I can't come up with stuff like this unless I've really in love.
@ jade: "a dark surreal laced with defeat" would mean giving up on dreams/desires, an attitude I don't recommend -that would be loosing Patience . Reply »

Great work author...is always hard to apply texture to whole human body and u did it very good...but in this case u could made it even perfect...use a bit more of dodge and burn especially on the legs to avoid flat look...also u could use big soft black brush with opacity set between 50-75%...left shoulder demands a bit more work because that arm is made perfectly so shoulder pop up a bit because is slightly flat...work a bit more on this entry author because, this could be top entry...i will hold my vote...and of course this is only a suggestion and sorry for the nit picks...best of luck... it's free ponti55 for 30 days, stuff that used to take me hours now takes seconds, no ripple, blur, motion, scale, zig zag, warp, distort... etc.. etc.... it does it all for you with the effect you exactly want in seconds (you do have to do the layer mask with gradient black and white to get the fade effect, but it's worth it) and it's only 29 bucks..
