Flower Heads - Photography Contest [112 entries]

In this contest your goal is to show exactly ONE flower head in bloom, nothing more, nothing less... Just the head of the flower, with a few inches of the stem if necessary.
Your photo can show absolutely nothing else besides this. This will require you placing a backdrop in behind, or above, or below it, depending on the angle you choose to make your photo.

adeincyprus: I would say, as long as it is okay with the mods, that as long as the main subject matter is the bud, flower or bloom, whether it be the whole bloom, or a close up of it, and as long as the cloud is a very minor percentage of the shot, or that the sun was behind the bloom, then it would be acceptable. My idea was to shoot the head in close up, so it filled the frame, or at least made up the bulk of it. I didn't want to see other matter in full show in the background or foreground. There are some superb entries in the contest that have achieved the goal, so it is achievable.. (2 years and 172 days ago)

adeincyprus: I think some of you need to learn to be a little bendable with the rules. If we stuck to all the rules 'solidly' there would be almost no entries in most of the contests. Water drops are part of a plant if it early morn, or maybe it's been raining. Part of a flower is still a flower! As for backgrounds, as long as the background is not distinctive, then it is acceptable. The backdrop was a suggestion to help make the shoot easier! (2 years and 167 days ago)
