Something a little different for this contest. Your goal is to download this base model In .obj format. This means you will just have the model, no textures.
Your mission is to texture, light, alter, remodel. Do whatever you want with this model. Use your imagination. Does it have to stay as a mini cooper? No. you have absolute freedom to do what you want. The only stipulation is this. You MUST start with this model. Go for it and have fun. SBS guide is mandatory. Pre built meshes are allowed.

mircea: First of all, this contest is mainly for C4D users. When i imported the OBJ to Maya, it imported as a single mesh not separately. I tryed importing the file via Max, and only then i managed to get to maya the separated mesh. The geometry is triangulated, so u can't realy edit it, the obj doesn't has textures or UV's. This is not a very well thought contest in my opinion. ( 5 years and 931 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Okay Mircea, I understand your point of view. However, the whole point was for you to not just have the models and the textures. You are supposed to be tested by this. Unwrap the uv's yourself, put an edit poly modifier over the top of the stack. You really need to not question the contest, but look at the piece and work out how to do it yourself. triangulated meshes still have vertex points/faces/ edges. All the things needed by modelers to alter a shape. You are not suppose to have the textures! That's too easy, and if any one does D/L the C4D model then the entry will eventually be removed. You are purposely told to take the .obj model, BECAUSE IT IS HARDER...... ( 5 years and 931 days ago )
dante: I would like to back up mircea. if you import the model into MAYA it becomes too heavy to seperate and UV map making it impractical to enter the comp as most of the work would be in managing the file not in any creative way, but purely in a tecnical exercise of can you make the file managable, which I do not think your community is going to give marks on ones ability to import models and convert formats. CoyDog: hmm. I don't have any problem with the OBJ file with Carrara6.0 or Hexagon. It has Full UV map for all parts and material List is already set up just not filled in. It is true that the model is already tessellated. And the number of poly was out there at over 62K poly or about 100K facets. Hmm I guest Contest is over on Friday ? ( 5 years and 920 days ago )
