I have a general suggestion to your works, you should make a bright scene, other than dark or dim scene, because as my experience in Pxleyes, the brighter entries are higher rated than the darker ones.

as a photoshop newbie, this kind of manips is something I like most. this pic requires no high skill in doing manips, this is done in very basic way of manipulating like masking, blending, cropping, some layer adjustment and burn or dodge tool action...most of all, it is not so time consuming,..the suitable sources are very important to complete this pic,...just a little drawing ( yes, very little, for I am not that good at drawing, LOL ),is performed that is the fence,..many great tuts of manips can be found at http://www.readactor.com/design/25-matte-painting-tutorials-for-adobe-photoshop/ or can also visit http://www.photoshoproadmap.com/Photoshop-blog/2009/05/11/40-extravagant-surreal-and-fantasy-scenes-photoshop-tutorials/ , hope you guys like it,... There should be a defined edge to the left of the stone path. The light on the foreground buildings is from the right, on the middle building from the left.
