as a photoshop newbie, this kind of manips is something I like most. this pic requires no high skill in doing manips, this is done in very basic way of manipulating like masking, blending, cropping, some layer adjustment and burn or dodge tool action...most of all, it is not so time consuming,..the suitable sources are very important to complete this pic,...just a little drawing ( yes, very little, for I am not that good at drawing, LOL ),is performed that is the fence,..many great tuts of manips can be found at http://www.readactor.com/design/25-matte-painting-tutorials-for-adobe-photoshop/ or can also visit http://www.photoshoproadmap.com/Photoshop-blog/2009/05/11/40-extravagant-surreal-and-fantasy-scenes-photoshop-tutorials/ , hope you guys like it,... Really nice atmosphere, but i suggest making a stronger more defined shadow for the building in the foreground. Great job otherwise. Good luck 
There should be a defined edge to the left of the stone path. The light on the foreground buildings is from the right, on the middle building from the left.

You really have a nice eye for composition. Only nitpick would be the resolution on the closest object. Good job and good luck!
