While griffins are most common in the art and lore of Ancient Greece, there is evidence of representations of griffins in Ancient Persian and Ancient Egyptian art as far back as 3,300 BC.[5][6] Most statues have bird-like talons, although in some older illustrations griffins have a lion's forelimbs; they generally have a lion's hindquarters. Its eagle's head is conventionally given prominent ears; these are sometimes described as the lion's ears, but are often elongated (more like a horse's), and are sometimes feathered. The earliest depiction of griffins are the 15th century BC frescoes in the Throne Room of the Bronze Age Palace of Knossos, as restored by Sir Arthur Evans. It continued being a favored decorative theme in Archaic and Classical Greek art. (5 years and 1280 days ago)

Good image. I'd like it even better if there was more color contrast between foreground & background.

Thanks

Nice image overall, a few areas that stand out to me are the talons in the ground and the base of the neck on the inside, both need a little more defining imo.
Good job though

Thanks

As the dusk creep in,
After a long and tiring day;
The guardian watches,
Keeping all harm at bay.

Good blend & very colorful. I'd remove the phantom part of the mountain from the castle pic...it looks like it could somehow be a ghost of the rear wing, which is too small.

author says:

? I dont understand... explain

(5 years and 1788 days ago)

CMYK46 says:

See the shape behind the eagle head & to our right? That's what I meant. And IMO the rear wing is too small. Still a good pic.

This is a cool picture, nice work. I think the wings would look better at rest along the sides of that cat. That's just 2 cents worth.

author says:

I thought the same... I looked and looked for a suitable pair and found nothing I liked... so up it is lol

Walking around the other evening i had come across this strange animal... just needing to take a pic, and i did... later looking into i had found that it was in fact a griffin... Thought i wouldve had more of a chance finding a unicorn! oh well... hope you like :-) (5 years and 1790 days ago)

Could use a better background. Trees are the same color & value as wings.

avatar rusvelt2000

I agree, at least try to clear up the trees. At first I thought it was a bazooka or some...

avatar Majkman

loses the main image in the background ....all that work cannot be seen

author says:

Much thanks guys!!! i have changed it totally... hoping this is better

avatar oziipop
oziipop says:

Soooo much better! Looks great!

avatar rusvelt2000

Yes it is, take care to the white edge all over the griffin wings, you could remove it by selecting the wings, go to selection, modify, and contract, 2 pixels should be enough for it. Moreover, if you wish to improve it better, you could darken the griffin body in front of the right wing (check the light from where it comes from), making it darker would reduce the visibility of the sharpen edge of the wing. Next, use the dodge tool on the upper-back side of the griffin head and on the feathers too, it will give the impression of being hit by the light from the background.

author says:

Thanks alot!!! I had touched it up abit... hope its better now even more atleast

avatar lincemiope

The griffin is the symbol of my city, I was pleased to see this beautiful work
