The neck, body and tail is the paintbrush. So is his hair. The rest is external sources. (5 years and 188 days ago)

Cute and terrifying at the same time! could have been in the nightmare contest too

Zizounai says:

You have some round yukkies you might want to erase just in front of the creature's face

author says:

Yea those dots were added by the Nik Filter and I don't know why. I was hoping no one saw them but you have the eye of an eagle. I will try to clone them out. Thanks for the suggestion.

author says:

Those yuckies were actually in the external external source and were exaggerated by the Nik Filter.

You've gone batty!

avatar skyangel
skyangel says:

Weird creature and great work as usual but I think you need to define the body edge a bit more where it meets the right wing. Check the right wing on the bat and see how the body edge is still defined?
Other than that, I have no suggestions for improvement.

author says:

That was a problem area. I spent more time on that than anything else (well not quite but it felt that way). I tried so hard to find legs that would just cover up that seam. I had the edge a little harder, then softer, and kinda settled on medium. Tried using some of the paintbrush texture to make it blend. Tried some color, and other types of brushing. Perhaps you see some solution that I don't, to which I am all ears, but I kinda racked my brain on that stupid seam. I was hoping no one would notice but you and Z with your damned eagle eyes are seeing ALL of my faults!! haha.

You made it less defined. I was thinking more defined like in this reference......

There's something very fishy about this...

avatar skyangel
skyangel says:

Great work. Very nice color blending and matching.
A small nit pick for improvement... There is just a small green smudge on the top right and a small purple spot in the hairline just above the nose which need to be fixed unless you particularly want them that color?

author says:

OK it's taken care of. Thank you for your suggestion Angel.

(5 years and 357 days ago)

author says:

Those were part of the film texture. Maybe I should de-saturate them or mask them out some. Could have sworn at one point I did de-saturate them. Gremlins. Yes, the gremlins did it. Will fix. Thanks for the suggestion.

Congrats BWR, he's scary

author says:

Mahalo madamemonty. He's kind of clown-like in his look and behavior. Notice he does not have any claws or fangs. He is friendly. I have some pity on him because there he was minding his own business when he grabbed a bite to eat, but his tasty morsel had a fish hook in it! I hope he got away so he can go back to his friends and family.

Mongolian Death Worm - created by AWildDunsparce

Mongolian Death Worm

"The [Mongolian death] worm is said to inhabit the western or southern Gobi. In the 1987 book Altajn Tsaadakh Govd, Ivan Mackerle described it as travelling underground, creating waves of sand on the surface which allow it to be detected. The Mongolians say it can kill at a distance, either by spraying a venom at its prey or by means of electric discharge. They say that the worm lives underground, hibernating most of the year except for June and July, when it becomes active. It is also reported that it most often comes to the surface when it rains and the ground is wet." - wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolian_death_worm (5 years and 798 days ago)

I'm still rather new to photoshop contests, but I have read the guidelines and reread them a couple times after noticing your comment and have yet to find anything about wallpapers specifically. However, I do realize I found the image on a rather risky website so I do understand if I am disqualified and will try to stick to the more promising websites for future contests. Thank you.

CMYK46 says:

Author, you're absolutely right, the rule about wallpapers seems to have disappeared from the guidelines. Still, we have to use sources from sites that offer images under creative commons, which wallpaper sites do not. You still have time to find a useable image and resubmit. If you do, work on the lighting & shadows.

author says:

Just resubmitted using better images and improved my lighting and shadows. Thanks for the advice, it means a lot.

It's feeding time. This mother winged creature takes care of her little ones. They may look ferocious but they are gentle creatures, whose name is still to be discovered. :)
