How about trying to use dodge tool on fin and tail to make it lighter? The source you used has a dark background, and the image you did is light... and you know, those golden fish have almost see-through fins and tails!
What erikuri said, also, the hull should be visible below the waterline.
Looks nice....Similar to another entry but a good one....
I have not looked at the other entries that much actually xP
Might be a good idea to look in future.
