Contest goal:

As photographers on this site we don't often get the chance to do selective coloring except in a 1 vs. 1 contest or our albums. Here is a chance to showcase your selective coloring skills.

For those who don't know, selective coloring is the art of creating a black and white image and returning a portion of it to color. Often, it focuses on a single object within the composition to emphasize it and/or enhance drama.
PS Elements, PS and gimp (free) among other editing programs will allow you to achieve this look.

Status: finished. Check out the winners below!

MarcosSanchez: Interesting despite going against the rules of the game, a lot of photographers use this expedient from time to time on their photos, and they show up here inadvertently ... This time will count... Good call ... ( 5 years and 2394 days ago )
kyricom: Is it bringing a single COLOR back, or a single OBJECT (which could potentially have multiple colors)? ( 5 years and 2394 days ago )
iquraishi: can we use in camera settings to achieve the effect or is it just the post processing? ( 5 years and 2394 days ago )
WYSIWYG: @kyricom, description does not say single color, but single object. So I assume multiple colour of object is allowed.

friiskiwi: The goal does not specify either single colour or object, it says:
" Often, it focuses on a single object within the composition to emphasize it and/or enhance drama."
So the way I read it, It's up to the author to decided what to do.

" a lot of photographers use this expedient from time to time on their photos, and they show up here inadvertently ... "

What we see here sometimes is not selective colour as such, but desaturation by channels, which is allowed as it acts on the whole photo.

It is allowed to remove ALL the red from a photo, or all colour bar the red. In this contest however, you could have somebody with red roses, aginst a red wall, and only leave the red of the roses in the photo.
I hope this explains the difference. ( 5 years and 2394 days ago )
MarcosSanchez: Thanks Friiskiwi ...
Normally I use the rubber in PS, had not used the method described by you, but the good is thus always learning new things ... ( 5 years and 2393 days ago )
iquraishi: can we use in camera settings to achieve the effect or is it just the post processing? ( 5 years and 2390 days ago )
friiskiwi: iquraishi, I'm not sure, but if you use the camera setting you would still need to some more processing.
