k5683: so do we have to use a 35 mm camera? ( 5 years and 2378 days ago )
Contest Moderator: No, you do not have to use a 35mm camera. That is an example used to define what makes a tele-lens. Please include your focal length in your entry descriptions... ( 5 years and 2378 days ago )
FallingHorse: k5683 - a 50mm lens on a 35mm format sensor is basically equivalent to humans field of view so anything over this is considered to be telephoto. You just have to adjust the focal length according to your sensor size ie. on an APS-C sensor you multiply by 1.5 for Nikon & 1.6 for Canon so in theory 35mm lens on an APS-C size sensor is equivalent to the 50mm lens on full size sensor (35mm format) .... clear as mud hey ( 5 years and 2376 days ago )
