I like flowers. Rose is one of my favorites. I have some growing in the garden. There is where I got the idea of making a drawing of a rose first, then fill the outlines with color. I tried Illustrator, but I think PS worked much better.
I used the smudge tool, as I have done in some of my works, and the blending is amazing. (5 years and 3504 days ago)
I did this about 7 years ago, it was for line practice. I never got around to shading or coloring it and to be honest, I never really figured out which would look best on it. The drawing took over a week to do, had to restart a couple of times and lots of erasing along the way.

Note: to do this type of drawing, you use a light board and graph paper, you do your drawing on a paper over the graph paper. You do 1/4 of the drawing, then you use that as your visual guide for the rest in reveres

curious.....is smudge allowed in the drawing contests? The rules for the drawing are not real clear, especially when the rules and guidelines say one thing and the contest says another ie: basic adjustments.

Hello all, thanks for comments. K5683. Well, I read the guidelines and rules, and it does not say anything about "not" using the smudge tool. If you check the other entries, there are some with color, and watercolors. What I did different here, is adding more detail to my original drawing. Check (SBS) please. Thank you for your comment.
while very nicely done, you changed the art form from drawing to painting, the drawing no longer shows in the finished image, which I thought the contest called for - Drawing
