CMYK, it's NOT a candid for the first reason, the subject is clearly engaged with both the photographer and the viewer through eye contact. She is clearly aware she is posing for a photo. second, if she is a tour guide in the country, it's clearly not a studio shot...

Sorry jfish...but the skewed horizon really appears to work here IMHO...the subject is slightly skewed to the right, the horizon, slightly to the left...it creates a 'balance' of sorts...I really like the shot 'as is', the colors also work great together, in addition to the captured action, I must admit...nicely done Author!

Don't get me wrong...I understood, indeed...a superb portrait as always. The attention to detail in the author's themed portraits is always complete.

Glad you entered this Author...although you say it lacks the 'typical wow factor", I really enjoy the image as it is. It's a different approach, but, in the case of this image, and it's desired look....I think it works well. Good Luck!

Agree...it really looks like a kidnapping in progress...or in the States, a shot like this would be used as "evidence" in a child abuse case

Author: I really like the concept of this shot; however, maybe a better backgound (perhaps a white/pressed bedsheet on a tabletop), better lighting...stay away from on-camera flash, natural light would be better (near a window?) and get a bit lower on the angle...then you will have an impressive entry, just some suggestions...

Just a suggestion author...you might want to crop and slightly rotate the image so the line created by the tail begins exactly in the upper right corner...I think it would create a very nice leading line towards the subject...

Its a bit better now author...there is now at least some detail in the blown out parts of the mother's head. I understand what you are saying about some photos having BOH, I use the hi-key method quite often, but it certainly is a matter of having the blown highlights work with the image, not against it...

Author: although it's a wonderful pose and on-theme...your highlights are terribly blown. I would suggest finding another image that's more properly exposed before the voting begins....just an opinion, but as it stands, I'm afraid this particular image will not do well in the voting...
