They are meant to be that way. I did it on purpose. It's a fantasy after all. Shadows are not always realistic or consistent in a fantasy art work. The shadows are all going down the hole like they are being sucked down into it. Some call it artistic licence or distortion of reality.

IMO, i find the insects unnecessary and almost a distraction from the image. but again that is just me... ;] good luck!

While I can see where bjaockx is coming from (Try to type that name without tying your fingers in knots) I'd like the opposite. I'd like to see the bugs take up more of the blank space as if calling the creature from the underground, but again, that's just me great work all round and IMHO

The holes would all have different perspectives.
PS: If the square peg is in the center, it wouldn't have a left oriented perspective. it would be straight on with no edges showing. The edges of the square would only be able to touch the outer edge of the circular hole.

Has potential to be a good image -- first see CMKY's comment -- the edges between the hole and the sufrace are too sharp -- the thickness seems a bit too deep and the walls of the holes do not really look natural -- maybe look of a souce with a hole drilled in wood to use -- might require a total rework of the images as a hole in chip board looks quite different from one in solid wood

Yeah yeah, I know, well, I've been looking for pictures of tarantulas, and most of the pictures I realized I fit in the palm of the hand. Then resize it consistent with the model's hand.
