Contest goal:
As a kid I liked reading stories (and well, I'm still a kid, so nothing much has changed), but what I liked even more was checking the nice illustrations that were made for the stories. Most of the time they show a part of the story, but still with enough funny details and own interpretation from the designer to give the image something extra to what you already read in the story.
For this contest you're going to make an illustration for a specific story: the Brothers Grimm's "The Golden Bird". Never heard of it? You can read it here. (4 pages in total).
Read this story and pick a scene that you can transform into a nice image. You can add other less-related things to the image to give the illustration more life, but at least the entry has to show clearly what part of the scene you chose. Good luck!

Drivenslush: LOL orientallad.. the Brothers Grimm had a way of doing that, due to the fact many of their stories just assumed people would KNOW a fox was once a human... Like Shakespeare's "Pound of Flesh" would have automatically be known as a heart in his day, but would have to be explained to today's modern audience. Many stories were quite gruesome back then, but then again they used to butcher animals right on the road and the blood would run in the street of the market area. ) ( 5 years and 2738 days ago ) orientallad: I've seen foxes in the wild many times, and many other animals either, i myself had two dangerous experiences with egyptian cobra, i lived and worked in my family's farm for most years of my childhood and youth, it's dangerous and isolated but green views are just awesome

I made this image on my laptop but when I transferred the file to my desktop I realised that the colours are more yellowish than what I was viewing in the laptop.
Nevertheless, I thought I should upload the image because it took me late in the night to finish it, but now I can't make the colour corrections I want.

wow.. very good job with the idea.. watch the shadow under the spine as to the shadow under the cover, they should melt together a bit.. overall distortion for the picture is quite well done (the spine containment should encapsulate all the pages not just so far and then bends around it).. fantastic chop all round though.. good luck.. and always IMHO
Great image & SBS! The type on the spine is a bit off center, otherwise nice work.
The shadow of the man seems wrong, anything else looks good and on place, great illustration of the story.
the text on the back of the book isnt in the middle of the back of the book, that makes it less realistic. move it a lil more to the left
