just a question, can you explain, to me, how you got the rest of the picture in black and white?

Because the edges of the heart contrast so well with the background, I was able to use the magnetic lasso tool in PS to select the heart, inversed the selection, and desaturated. I haven't been on here in a while, so I have forgotten about the sources and the step by step's. Sorry about that!

But, there is always a but , selecting editing is not allowed in the photography contests.. You can read the rules and guidelines here on http://www.pxleyes.com/guidelines/photography/ I guess the mods will shed more light and help you out with it.
