IMHO, this is nothing more then a photo of a piece of artwork. This is not an "art" contest, but rather a photo contest. Now if it was a photo of the artist at work creating the piece, that would be a different story. Just my opinion.
Normally I would agree, but for this contest, the goal is to photograph an object or action that goes with the name, not necessarily the act of creating the object. The same could be said of other entries that have simply photographed an object. In other contests perhaps you would be right, but this is "ART", is it not? No need to show the creation of it.
If the goal had of been alligators, you would have been absolutely correct in objecting.
At least there was no problem in the composition, lighting, etc !!
