On December 21st, 2012, one of the most important cycles in the Mayan calendar ends. This is the 5,125-year cycle that is also known as the 13 baktuns. On this day the winter solstice sun rises in conjunction with the center of our Galaxy. Some say on this day the world as we know it ends. This is only entered for this contest, not to scare anyone. author says: Actually I've thought of not selling because if it really happens there should be some great photo opportunities; but then again it will happen only on the 21st and not the 20th. So, to be on the safe side, I may still be able to cash in the old faithful a couple of days earlier, and if nothing happens, well, I still have the cash for another camera, and life goes on, literally
