I promise it's living or, better, it was living at the time I made the shot. Butterflies live but few days. This was in a "live butterfly hall" within a museum. People could walk inside and butterflies would sometimes land on their heads. A great variety of butterflies. I even happened to be there to see a butterfly coming out of the cocoon.
