Underwater - Photography Contest [31 entries]
Contest goal:
James Cameron went 11km below the sea surface to photograph underwater life. We are not going to ask you to do the same, some meters would be good already to show us life in the water. Shots taken with an underwater camera being actually in the water are preferable but not necessary, shots taken from aquariums are allowed too (not the aquariums ppl have at home, but places like Sealife and zoos). But the shot has to show only underwater life. Animals are a must and humans (in the water) are allowed.

iquraishi: so it means the small sized aquarium are not allowed, but the huge ones (10 feet or so) are allowed. ( 5 years and 2305 days ago )

Aurelia aurita (also called the moon jelly, moon jellyfish, common jellyfish, or saucer jelly) is a widely studied species of the genus Aurelia.[1] All species in the genus are closely related, and it is difficult to identify Aurelia medusae without genetic sampling; most of what follows applies equally to all species of the genus.
The medusa is translucent, usually about 25–40 cm in diameter, and can be recognized by its four horseshoe-shaped gonads, easily seen through the top of the bell. It feeds by collecting medusae, plankton and mollusks with its tentacles, and bringing them into its body for digestion.
