It was taken in Norway last week, and looked even better in real life.

Nice shot, it might have been stronger if a bit more of the fence in the distance were visible - it disappears a bit too quickly. Nice sky and clouds colors.

Wherever the lines lead, it's out of frame and therefore has no visual interest.

depends on from where you are looking, they also point to the 2 men.

I think the contest explanation says " anything that has a line of sorts that will help to draw the eye in and along it." and "past the scene and out of the photo." I believe these kite lines accomplish both statements. And thank you Friiskiwi..the image can also infer the kite and the lines returning to the individual.
