Flower Heads 2 - Photography Contest [73 entries]
Contest goal:
In this contest your goal is to show exactly ONE flower head in bloom, nothing more, nothing less... Just the head of the flower, with a few inches of the stem if necessary.
Your photo can show absolutely nothing else besides this. This will require you placing a backdrop in behind, or above, or below it, depending on the angle you choose to make your photo. You could also use a very low depth of field to completely blur out the background making everything unrecognizable (other than the flower of course).

Contest Moderator: Due to the large number of off-theme entries I felt the need to clarify the contest rules. The ONLY items allowed in the frame are the flower head and a small bit of stem (optional, not required). Leaves, grass, etc. is not allowed. Objects in the background will be considered off-theme as well UNLESS they are blurry enough as to render them completely unrecognizable (this will be considered, for the sake of this contest, a backdrop). The purpose of this competition is to focus solely on the flower without any other distractions. ( 5 years and 2941 days ago )

k5683: Jeez oh petes the last few weeks have been hard for me as far as the themes go! Flowers flowers flowers: I'm in Michigan and there are no flowers and I never GET flowers either (I refuse to buy them for myself) AND Desserts desserts fast food: I'm on a diet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! kyricom: I hear ya, k5683. We won't get flowers around here for another month or so. I guess this summer I'll take 4,828 flower shots to store up for next year whene there are flower themes every five minutes. I'll use dato_t's suggestions for a guide.

Cause you have macros of stamens, % of flower head n then u have the whole flower head (most with other stuff in the back ground) ( 5 years and 2940 days ago )
Contest Moderator: As long as part of the flower head is showing and it does not break any of the contest rules it will be allowed. The picture does not need to show the complete flower head to be considered on topic, just most of it (ie. a macro shot would be acceptable). ( 5 years and 2940 days ago )

friiskiwi: I tend to agree with ibmaxed, by not showing any background, it makes the photo quite different, and a much easier shot to take. The original idea asked us to be clever, now it's more about having a good tripod and macro lens. Still I guess we can show how we feel by voting accordingly. ( 5 years and 2937 days ago )
