nishagandhi: so are characters like tom and jerry allowed?? ( 5 years and 3515 days ago )
spygirl1978: i can't draw. i could once...but now my damn hands shake all the time. ( 5 years and 3514 days ago )
arkncheeze: I donnu... I have a query myself... Is it okay to draw known personality as well as to show the expression... for example Albert Einstein and I don't mean his tongue sticking out pic... I mean as take his ref pic and draw an expression about him... ( 5 years and 3514 days ago )
GolemAura: I would suggest to all the entries to describe the materials used.. charcoal/pencil/pen/mixing sponges/kneaded erasers.. just so we can have a grip on the method (I'm going to be voting very high I already know that... just because these are all going to be original pieces.. wooo HOOO ( 5 years and 3514 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Coloring is allowed... Drawing existing people aswell, but not a drawn copy of an existing photo. ( 5 years and 3514 days ago )
SOLARIS: drawing contests? how COOL is that! ... i really think about to draw again ( 5 years and 3514 days ago )
Contest Moderator: If you submit to this contest make sure you upload a HIGH QUALITY and large photo or scan, don't cover it up with a transparant sheet (reflections), this will enhance the quality of your entry. ( 5 years and 3514 days ago )
GolemAura: I am going to lose all my vote power on this contest.. but I don't give a rip.. .keep the images coming... this contest is feels like XMAS morning.. over and over and over again ( 5 years and 3514 days ago )
ponti55: Great contest.. so much talent being shown here, but i feel like i can't criticise because it feels like some things will be very difficult to change and update. ( 5 years and 3513 days ago )
nishagandhi: MOD: i dont understand what is a "transparent sheet"?? ( 5 years and 3513 days ago )
Contest Moderator: @Nisha some ppl use a transparant plastic sheet to save their drawings, they reflect light when photograped... ( 5 years and 3513 days ago )
Contest Moderator: please check this for contestrules: http://www.pxleyes.com/guidelines/#drawingguidelines ( 5 years and 3513 days ago )
kyluvlee: I am seeing an awful lot of photoshopping in this contest....I think it should be mandatory for the coloring to be limited to outside materials or fill ONLY techniques with photoshop...digital painting alows many to use blurs and other filters that you could'nt actually use drawing by hand....this is getting ridiculous!!! ( 5 years and 3513 days ago )
arkncheeze: kyluvlee I agree with you... Thats y I was asking/telling in that superhero contest as well... Well maybe fill, using opacity brush and smudge( coz smudge is also in traditional form as well) but other effects like blur shouldn't be used... ( 5 years and 3513 days ago )
arkncheeze: okay I saw in the guideline brushes cannot be used... But if we don't use brush how will we draw digitally or you meant custom/art brushes??? Can we use normal brush... I mean soft brush with opcaity change??? ( 5 years and 3513 days ago )
nishagandhi: ok thanks for clarifying MOD ( 5 years and 3513 days ago )
Eladine: i see a lot of entries where theres ppl on it that do have a face but also makes me wonder how kmuch the drawing was actualy about the expression o.o; i dunno love all the drawings tho ( 5 years and 3512 days ago )
ramesh: really superb....... ( 5 years and 3512 days ago )
Richirajd: I agree with Arkncheeze..........If we don't use brushes ... how are we supposed to get the job done........ Besides, trying to combine traditional art and digital art in a contest is quite confusing. ( 5 years and 3511 days ago )
Contest Moderator: the use of brushes is allowed of course, just not the kind which contain full images. For now, if you use basic PS brushes your entry will not be removed, don't worry The rules for these contests are made by trial and error and will be refined in time. ( 5 years and 3511 days ago )
Richirajd: I read your reply too late. I've already spent last night with the pen tool. And after completing it my vision was blurred. Lol ( 5 years and 3511 days ago )
k5683: man, I don't think I can even vote on this contest because there are so many rules that are questionable---so many good entries too though ( 5 years and 3509 days ago )
loopyluv: can i submit an already entered past contest entry? that fits this theme? ( 5 years and 3508 days ago )
kyluvlee: I think the rules are very simple to understand, there is just too much extra filters being used in many of the digital painting processes...If it needed to be simpler to follow, I think entries should only be line drawings or sketches and no color unless color is added by an outside material...just my opinion...it seems like the only way to make a "Drawing Contest" a drawing contest ( 5 years and 3508 days ago )
jsk123: Can it be an acrylic painting? ( 5 years and 3508 days ago )
Stowsk: I think the moderator needs to create some division between digital drawing and scanned in art. Digital drawing is brushes, pen and smudge. I imagine where a freehand creates a stroke. That is what I consider it. maybe this will help. ( 5 years and 3508 days ago )
nehayash: when the results of this contest comming out?has the submission deadline extended ( 5 years and 3505 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Submittion to this contest has been extended, you can still submit! ( 5 years and 3505 days ago )
kyluvlee: extended to when?? ( 5 years and 3504 days ago )
angeluzend: and mainly: why it has been extended? aren't there enough entries? ( 5 years and 3504 days ago )
ZaphodQB: Heck I guess 46 entrie was not enough! Bring back the color one thing contest with 100+ entries ( 5 years and 3504 days ago )
ponti55: What date will the contest end? is it worth starting an entry or is it a big risk, not knowing when a contest finishes? ( 5 years and 3504 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Contest has been extended by 1 week, they will end the same time the PS contests end. It has been extended because this is a try-out, the rules and contests will have to be evaluated and rewriten at some points. Rules will NOT change while this contest is running! I drawn my personal version of the Lady with an Ermine (Leonardo da Vinci); a little bit hippy, like her necklace suggested me. I always loved her beautiful expression because is peaceful and serene even if I always thought she was waiting for something.
I drawn it with a simple pencil, than colored it with acrylics and added some details with crayons. (5 years and 3513 days ago)

This is supposed to be Clint Eastwood. I did this drawing about 5 years ago. It was done on 60lb Strathmore Sketch paper using only a #2 mechanical pencil and a rolled up stub of the same paper to shade with. (5 years and 3509 days ago)

EDIT: sorry; I used a leaf brush for adding color on the background. Now there's the original posted.

She's Eva. I like the smile she had in the photo I chose. She's always been a cheerful girl, but here I think she represents something more. A sort of soft, secret joy.

I just made her a portrait (crayons), fixed with Photoshop the light (because the photo of the drawing was too dark) and added a little bit of color. (5 years and 3511 days ago)
