The over all expression is preserved, and nice render in color, the only thing I find that I would have liked to have seen, is that in the original photo there is a weariness/tiredness in the eyes that isn't here, but otherwise nice

oh, right, k5683, this was my intention. Don't know if you know the effect, but when you're young, your father feels like the proverbial oak tree. One day you find yourself being one head taller and twice as strong, the oak tree starting to lose it's leaves. And one day you find yourself holding the almost weightless hand which you first thought would always protect you. I accept that fading away of the oak, but I do want to remember the 'late summer tree' I used to admire.

I can see what you have done, it almost looks as though you have left the next aged but as you move up the face it becomes more youthful - complete with a twinkle in the eye. Very poetic description in your previous post too, just beautiful!

My mom from a photograph of her made in 1945 when she was 16 years old. I used basic shapes (eliptical and rectangle marquee) pen tool, brushes and smudge tool. Dodge and burn also used. This is NOT a trace , I was striving for accuracy. Thanks (5 years and 3478 days ago)

I do not draw from scratch very good but this was fun.
PLEASE NOTE: As I finished this picture and started uploading the SBS, I received a call from my sister that my mom was in the hospital in ER. She wasn't getting any oxygen. I had to stop what I was doing here to go be with her. I asked my husband NOT TO TURN OFF THE COMPUTER because I hadn't saved the rest of my SBS pictures-----After a night and day in the hospital, guess what I came home to? No SBS to show you. :) There are worse things to worry about though (like my mom) so I'm not mad at my hubby (even though he probably thinks I am because he just read this as I was typing it ;o) but I hope this can stay up even though I don't have a full SBS. I didn't do it in layers either :( (5 years and 3479 days ago)
