City of Future - created by wlado
Hope you like it :)
Inspired by making of 'The Hole', Making of 'The Lost City' and Piotr Jaroszek's 'Future City' whose city structure I liked the most and resembled in for my model. :)
Modeling techniques in SBS. (2 years and 180 days ago)

Nice view of a boring planet - created by wlado
Well, technically, it's been more photoshopping here than modeling, since there was a lot to combine and texture, but the model is crucial. ;) Hope you like it!
Thanks to:
Markus Spring from flcikr,
Hypergenesb from flickr,
Ethan Allen from flickr and
Grant MacDonald from flickr for their marvelous images. =) (2 years and 168 days ago)
A Library... - created by wlado
Well, I really wanted to do something for this one, but I just ran out of ideas.... Then I remembered that I started modeling a library some time ago that would be suitable, and I dug it up from some archived folders and finished it, and that's it! =) Hope you like.
Oh, and check out the high-res, much more detail to be seen there! =) (2 years and 149 days ago)
The Chase - created by wlado
3ds Max. In PS I only did dodging (around the exhaust flames), blur (in the distance, to give kind of depth of field or something), and photo filter. All of that is allowed in rules.
Hope you like it! =) (2 years and 148 days ago)

Solar Eclipse - created by wlado
I used Vue 7 for 'modeling' (I'd call it 'setting up' cause, even tho I'm able to make sth like this in 3ds Max, this is way to simple, just seting up some parameters.... There I admit it =P). Some adjustments made in 3ds Max and PS (nothing forbidden by the rules).
Hope you like it. =) (2 years and 165 days ago)
Watery Planet - created by wlado
3ds Max, Photoshop, Vue 7 xStream.
OK, the final render took me like 2 hours, and I forgot to add bumpmaps to the islands/mountain's textures! O.O DOH!! Well, I didn't have the nerves to wait more, so that's why it looks a bit plastic-ish. But anyway.... Hope you like it =)

Dead and Empty - created by wlado

PLEEEEASE don't make me do it, there are millions of polygons there! =(( To be more precise 3927095. So you can be sure there's a lot of detail =D This took me like an hour to render 800x600.... Imagine how much would 1280 x 1024 take me. Do I REALLY have to do it?

Anyway, I'm rendering it now, it'll be done in a few minutes. =) @your comments, well, I don't want to reduce polycount because of the details, and I'm just to lazy (read: have no idea how) to make normal maps =P
I made a few planes because I have had several displacement maps, I didn't mix them all in PS. And I could never manage to do something this detailed with Edit Poly. Well, maybe with Edit Poly and some Normal/Bumps and Displacements, but nothing with edit poly onnly =) Thanks anyway! Here comes high-res!
By doing that the great ground texture is visible.

Very good take on the image, The feel of the original is far less apocalyptic than yours, and i prefer the colours here Reply »

Thanks everyone.
@Lodd, yeah, as I said, I used that kinda layout for my work, cause I liked it most of the 3 I mentioned.
@ramananjv - thanks
I did not follow it step by step, I used some of the techniques both from it and others.
As I said in the last step, the sky is one polygon (picture in source), with a gradient opacity map, from the bottom to the top, and some alterations to the gradient shade positions.
Render engine.... Uhhh, I have no idea what that is. I just modeled it, set up the render resolution and rendered it. I think it's the default 3ds Max render?

Oh, and about the lighting in the center building, I just positioned free lights in the 'windows' or whatever they are. I think the picture in SBS tells enough about where they are positioned. =) Reply »

wow!! Seems real...What is the building in the centre? Reply »

Thanks everyone! =) The building in the center.... Hmmm, I don't know, I guess it's something important that runs the whole city?

Good job except for a few straight lines in the clouds at upper right that pull the eye there... Reply »

Thanks. The sky an image downloaded from the net, so....
Don't be so nitpicky here, this is 3D modeling, not Photoshopping =P =) Reply »

i would have been more impressed if you learnt the tutorial then made something you could call your own design. To me this is just copying someones art. Tutorials are only there to teach, not to take credit for. Reply »
(2 years and 167 days ago)
Well, I don't know if I can agree or disagree with you. This is not a unique piece, but neither is the tutorial, TBH. I mean, really - A big city with circular composition with a cool building in the center... Classic.
Also, as I said, I didn't follow the tut, I just liked it's design. But thanks anyway, here's a goldie thumb for you. =D Reply »
