Ice Planet Of Zentar Prime - created by acharyaD

Ice Planet Of Zentar Prime
Favs: 0SBS: 82Hi-resRank: 8/11Score: 64.2% (0)9945 views

I created this scene in 3DS Max with some help of Photo Shop.

Ice planets are mostly made of solid ice, or freezing water with ice chunks or frozen land masses floating in the freezing water.

These planets are not very suitable for human life because of the freezing temperatures.

However they are great places for secret outposts or military bases.

Created with wings, 3ds & PS.

Some textures created by me using the sources/drawn myself. Check the SBS for maps & details on how they were used.

Other textures are from the 3ds library.

Please see the high quality, as much detail is lost in the preview. (5 years and 1775 days ago)

Volcanic Planet - created by dka120

Volcanic Planet
Favs: 0SBS: 5Hi-resRank: 11/11Score: 50.6% (0)6904 views

A hostile volcanic planet, barely suitable for life. A small scale alien mining colony from the neighbor moon has dug themselves in to caves, to withstand the extreme temperatures and the radiation from the stars. That was my vision..

I would have wanted to tweak it and add more details, but I missed two deadlines, so I posted it as it is instead! :)

Please watch it in Hi-res before voting. Constructive and relevant comments on improvements are welcome! (5 years and 2543 days ago)

The model is good, but you have to work on shadowing...

author says:

Wlado: Your'e right, some kind of ray tracing phenomenon seems to have emerged in the holes to the right. If that's what you mean.

I'll re-render it with correct light type and add some more discreet lights.

Nice idea and perspective, but I'd fix colors and exposure a bit. Add a little contrast, it's kinda washed out, but besides that it's great.

Love the mood of this, perhaps if some of the further elements had some blur to it...it would give this some more depth.

There's one light source on the moons, and another reflecting from the moons. Since the moons are reflecting the main light source, the shadows of the "towers" should be at the same angle as the light on the moons because the light source from left is stronger.
Anyway, it's still a nice image...
