Now that shake is gone people don't have many film level compositing solutions that are cheap enough for the independent user or hobbyist. This is where Houdini comes in. It has a professional level compositor built in to every version, even the apprentice versio. Meaning anyone can now compositie on a pro level because its free. The apprentice version cant be used commercially but it can be used for learning etc.
