Nice capture here but i have some suggestions to make.Merilyn in most of her photos wears simple / elegant jewellery.Her simple dress code & entire beauty was enough.I think that your model wears too much in this photo.Her left arm does not flatter the pose & makes her hair fall on her face hiding it.The look in her eyes is kinda "boring".The couch & the dress are excellent choice & so is the glass your model holds.She is beautiful,blond but the whole pose/attitude does not work (imho of course).That's that author & i wish you good luck!!!

If only you had use your flash in an other way,creating shadows over this beautiful body this would be perfect!!!

Very dynamic look...even if you are not looking at the camera.
Thats a hard thing to do.

A different direction of the light source would make miracles in this photo.
As it looks you fire the flash straight to the model.
Try to fire the flash with an different angle than that.
Slightly forwards will reveal more of your models arm & weight.
Slightly backwards will create a beautiful border around the hand & weight.
It's up to you off course!
The way it is right now is too dark...NOT a bad photo but too dark (IMHO).

A tripod is a must for night photography.
There is some motion blur...

To avoid the shadow of the nose in your models face try this...
Place a mirror on the exact oposite direction of the light source (flash in this case i believe).
Mirror will work as a "fill light" using the light from your light source.
That way you'll have a better result with NO shadow on the face & a PRO look on yor photo!!!

May be i don't have the "talent" jaws to wright "nice" comments like you & this is not my intention.I stay to the point on photography & that only.If i point out my opinion right or wrong is not yours to judge...

If you can re-shoot try this...
Use "spot metering" in your cameras metering mode & if i am right the walls & the roof will magically "disappear".
The + (cross) on your viewfinder or screen must be on the lamp so the camera gets light only from the "spot" you want it to!!!
Play with the exposure time to keep the cable visible (the lamp will be visible anyway).
That way this would look more "realistic" with out those "nasty" walls & roof.

This is a photography site author...not a playground.

What set of lens did you use for this shot?

It's all about F value cocor!
The smaller the F number is ( f.e 1.4 - 1.8 - 2.0 ) the smaller the DOF is.
If author was using a bigger F number (depending of lens F range f :1.8 - 22 some times) he would have a bigger "clear" area.
But that wasn't his intention.
He wanted only the diamond to be visible & the rest of the photo to be blur!!!
