I think this would have been better if the pinecone was more offset - ie using the rule of thirds for composition. But thats just my feeling. Having it central can also make more of a 'I'm here !' effect of the subject.

I like that there is a stark contrast in texture as well as colours too. It really accentuates the feeling that I think was supposed to be captured by the contest theme. That flower is so beautiful. Well done
