They tried to cross the desert but came across sandstorms and all kinds of obstacles so they gave up, abandoned the vehicles and phoned a rescue team to
save them. While they were waiting, they took out their frustrations on the vehicles. That's why they are in such a sorry state. (1 year and 314 days ago)

...but were they rescued? Then what? I now know who to call when I need advice on brushes and how to use them. Your work is very inspirational but you do know how I feel about your stuff so I will shut up right now.

author says:

Yes they were rescued, otherwise I would have had to put bones in the scene.

Thanks for commenting Olga.

I'm sorry to tell you that source 3: Light bulb - Pedro Fiallegas is copyrighted. You could try and contact the author for permission but you don't have much time.

author says:

Oh damn. That sucks. I doubt he will let me, but I did send him a message on his Flikr account.

Very often photographers will give permission for use of their images in these situations where they are credited and there is no monetary gain for the work. We will keep your entry up as long as possible while awaiting the author's reply.

(2 years and 175 days ago)

author says:

OK, it's fixed. Added a new light bulb. What a chore. Also, you guys are slipping. I didn't put the octopus and rust sources in and you all didn't catch it. Shame on you.

It's added now.

Moderator says:

No we're not slipping. We have many ways to check sources even when links aren't provided by authors. I checked the octopus image myself and found it was from wikipedia, the rust was obviously just a texture many of which are readily available. I didn't bother to mention you not posting them since the pressing issue was the copyright of the light bulb, posting the missing links (which I already knew were acceptable) could have been done right up till contest end in a comment.

Thanks. I hope you know my above comment was in jest. Love you guys/gals.

On the desert is an octopus, brilliant. I really love your colour palette as well with good light in center of softly vignetted image.

author says:

Thx. Always a challenge to get the right coloring. In my interpretation, that is a sand dune at the beach.

It looks like the papers are casting a shadow on the sky, i think if you removed it and maybe gave it a touch of motion blur it could add to the realism. It's a very nice composition and you've matched the multiple sources really well

I see what you are doing here author, my only suggestion is to get rid of the water spray around the sand water hole to give the water a better feeling of passing through the desert floor. At the moment it looks like the water is splashing all around but has no reason for being there. As it is a surrealistic image, it really doesn't matter but I find if the water looked like it was shooting straight through the sand it would make more sense and not just look like two photos on top of each other. ONLY A SUGGESTION.. It's fine just the way it is, but I'm just thinking of continuity. Good luck.

author says:

Right my friend. I like your idea, and I will take the water spray. Thanks....I like suggestions....
