I didnt want the image to look like a plain old thing, so I played with lighting, contrast, filters, blur and hue/saturation to get a paint type image.

Beautiful work, very few images actually manage to look like paintings or srawings, but you did it perfectly!
I like it too! Can you tell us how you did that? It looks almost as you printed it out, painted on top and scanned it back in.
Well I drew it out using a tablet, blocked in the colours then added detail, more detail, and then some more detail :L Have a look at the step-by-step guide.
Would have been good if you had removed the plastic imperfections.
I think that this is absolutely gorgeous work! love it
