Lead into Gold - created by Ory

Lead into Gold
Favs: 0SBS: 8Hi-resRank: 4/9Score: 62.7% (20)10196 views

The ancient art of alchemy and turning lead into gold has now become a reality with our patented 3 stage process and chemical alterations. For just the low low price of $326 you could great your own unlimited gold stockpile! (5 years and 2641 days ago)

I rly have a hard time voting on this since it seems to be a full 3d entry, I like the materials, the wood and gold and lead but they where allready created material textures and the computer calculates the reflections and shadows etc where in photoshop you have to do that yourself. so that costs points.

This isnt rly YOUR invention o.o; alchemist have been trying to turn lead into gold for ages.. they actualy succeeded too.

http://chemistry.about.com/cs/generalchemistry/a/aa050601a.htm

Transmutation of lead into gold isn't just theoretically possible - it has been achieved! There are reports that Glenn Seaborg, 1951 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, succeeded in transmuting a minute quantity of lead (possibly en route from bismuth, in 1980) into gold. There is an earlier report (1972) in which Soviet physicists at a nuclear research facility near Lake Baikal in Siberia accidentally discovered a reaction for turning lead into gold when they found the lead shielding of an experimental reactor had changed to gold.

author says:

I remember when I was a little kid and got a chemistry set and I was thinking that I wanted to try and make gold. So before I knew about alchemy I was thinking about it.

My invented part of this is that anyone can do it with a chemistry set that you can get at home. Not some fancy science with a load of intelligence and money and research going into it.

double post

author says:

I already explained why I see this as my invention... It is a fantasy, the "success" you speak of is not a real success since it costs more to transmute the metal than the worth of the gold and its just not viable as a money making tool. My invention is a fallacy since it is not actually possible it is the idea that you can do a simple process to make gold. Its more of a joke about it.

author says:

As for voting. Well I would say that the best way to get a good idea of how to vote is as if it was in the 3D contests. The reflections and shadows and models are not entirely easy. You have to set it up and have the right settings. Only then can you actually press render and the program does it all.

sorry about the multiple posts it was meant to be just one ;( I screwed up LOL (I'll edit them into one just hold on :P)

As for the idea, its really not bad it just not unique that kinda was my point.

We could have a long debate on the pros and cons of 3d versus photoshop but I dont think that will get us anywhere near to a positive outcome. I cant compare 3d really well with photoshop thats a personal thing I think, so thats why I had a hard time voting on it. I just went in the middle not bad vote not good vote. Because I dont think its bad at all. But if you had to compose that in photoshop it would be a lot harder I think. That doesnt mean that you didn't do much or that it was easy. Just very different.

I really don't know how to vote on this one...Cause this is great entry, love the idea, love the final image but this is full 3D work in PS contest...

this is more of an idea than an invention

Is this a horses reflection or is it in the water gasping for air?

author says:

The view is from under the water facing upwards so the horses head is being forced down into the water.. Guess it can be a optical illusion too lmao.. now its under the water, now its above it

avatar Chalty669

It really makes more sense now. You've really chose a really hard thing to do. I haven't really been able to find a real source to tell you if its done right. I would think the the part of the head thats coming underwater wouldn't have the distortion on it. Also to separate the underwater from the above water, I would change the color of the two. I wish you luck and have respect for you for trying this.
