Warlock, the color variation on the helmet is the sunglare. It is there on purpose.

O.k. Author but even for sun glare the edges still look too hard to me but that is personal preference. Many thanks for the explanation tho

Spot-on perspective! I originally thought the helmet 'glare' was from the sun, but 'glare' on the shady side seemed a bit odd. And his right shoulder has some 'glare' as well.
