Once upon a time a Geisha made an origami crane and placed it on a stone lantern. The wind caught it and the crane flew into the cherry blossoms, never to be seen again. (5 years and 897 days ago)

Good composition, but too filter heavy.

What stock did you use for the eyes... in the SBS there's a cut out eye that isn't any of the sources you've listed.

author says:

The hand is very large in proportion to the face, and the mouth is a bit too close to the nose, but the colors are very nice.

CMYK46 says:

Your final version has the white of the face extending well into the hairline. Step 6 is good...I'd go back to that to make the color correction you made in your final version.

Author, this is a great idea, but your source image is copyrighted. Please try to find one that is usable & resubmit!

As you can see there's a noisy texture on the photo , maybe you can copy it on her face ( like in the original), so that it seems a real photo.

Honestly, the best part to me is her skin, especially the chest area, the lighting there is so realistic. And, so her face needed to be smoother to be similar to her body. Really great portrait!

author says:

thanks guys and thanks langstrum i was worried about trying to make the skin match and also if the clothing would look like it belonged there

avatar langstrum
langstrum says:

Basically this is the digital painting work. Why didn't you use the advantage of photo manipulation? If I were you, I would use the real portrait image and blend the skin to the painting and all worries will be gone .

author says:

langstrum- there was no real portrait image to use just looked at some random pics for reference to lighting and where the wrinkles go. and because i wanted to see if i could do it basically. some of the tools i used arent allowed in dd contests either so there isnt anywhere else to enter it. ive only ever used photoshop and i wasnt sure if i could achieve what i wanted without using the ilegal dd tools

avatar Siddhartha

WOWWWWW....this is real awsome work.......although its not a manipulation but an awsome painting....good luck author...very impressive

author says:

ye it crossed my mind it mught not be a manipulation but i didnt realy have a clear idea of entering it in a contest so wouldnt be too upset if it got pulled. i new mixed manipulations 2 would be finished b4 i got a chance to finish it so i wasnt expecting to be able to enter it anyway. either way i learnt alot doin this. although i could argue i created my own image and manipulated it or would that be stretching the rules too much lol.
