Sorry for my stupidity, but where did you use the source image?
As you can see in SBS, most parts of head and wing from source image are used to make head & hand fur and wings, respectively.
I think the wings look too small, and his legs could be defined more, on the whole, a good entry based on the level source.

My personal fav in this contest.. I just love wen i see a story in any photoshop, photography, any art work... Keeping my fingers crossed.. Good luck..
