The Battle of Britain is the name given to the World War II air campaign waged by the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) against the United Kingdom during the summer and autumn of 1940.
The Battle of Britain was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces, and was also the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign to that date.

Excellent entry and great subject. You can't say enough about the courage and determination of the British people in WWII. Using older less capable aircraft like the Hawker Hurricane and the newer and one of the ten best fighters in history the Supermarine Spitfire they fought overwhelming odds. This makes a nice tribute to those tenacious British fighter pilots! Reply »

O-K War-bird fans, upon popular demand I have made an edit. Thank you all for the positive feed back and favorites. After some careful deliberation and pressure opacity smudge brush work I have added some blur to the blades on the props.
