skyangel: Can it imply flying like a plane or does it need to definitely imply floating like a hot air balloon? ( 5 years and 920 days ago )

Contest Moderator: The description is most specific, the "something" is "floating", not flying. If you showed a plane or a bird that implies it's flying. It also states "be creative" so think outside the box and use your imagination as to what "something" is "floating".

skyangel: I picture "floating" as an ordinary non floating object hanging in one place in mid air but "flying" as the same object looking like it is moving through the air not just remaining in one place. Would both those type of entries be acceptable? The only difference is that the "floating" one looks stationary and the "flying" looks like it is moving. A floating person for example is different to a flying person but a person is still a non flying object.

Contest Moderator: This theme is perhaps the most simple we've ever had yet you don't seem to grasp the explanation and you're over intellectualizing a simple theme.
Definition of floating-buoyant or suspended in water or air. (To further define: buoyant-able or apt to stay afloat or rise to the top of a liquid or gas.) A cloud floats, a balloon floats, they can move because they are light enough to be buoyant and moved by wind.
Some flying objects can be buoyant such as an airship but a bird or airplane is not buoyant because they are heavier than air and would fall if not for the wings, propeller or jets that make them fly.
In this contest if you were to show an elephant floating we would assume that something caused it to float, maybe gravity stopped working or it was filled with helium or it was magic. That's what we mean by "be creative". ( 5 years and 919 days ago )
