In Naples, in the old quarters, someone is still using a basket for shopping. They drop the basket with the money and the shopping list, the shopkeeper who is down the street put the stuff in the basket.

This was painted by an artist named Miller in the 1870's. He lived outside of Denver, Colorado in a little village named Georgetown. When his granddaughter needed money, she would pull one of his paintings out of her attic and sell it. I remember my family getting this when I was a little kid. We had a Golden Retriever at the time, and that fly on the handle was so realistic it used to drive her nuts! :-)
