For me this is only a reflective moment.. and very far from loneliness feelings. When I go to the mountains I love to be like this image... not for loneliness feelings, but for a moment of connection with nature. This contest is very complicated to give an opinion, each one has one loneliness experience and point of view.

I guess it just goes to show that being in a brightly lit place doesn't necessary promote a feeling of belonging.....thanks for the comment, though. As for center comp, sometimes it's okay. In this photo, he sits on the right side of the bench, so I think this compensates for the centering of the photo. Just me.

I'm usually not a fan of 'the centered subject', but it works very well here...for this theme. Shows him surrounded by space and emptiness. The textures are lovely here.

Thanks, I had that thought too, but the ones with a shallower DOF didn't look right. Perhaps with a lens where the background could have been really OOF, or of course some PS work.

I would like to know about the histories of these houses... a great capture...GL
This house sits along a very large river. The area is in danger of flooding right now. Most all the land up & down this road are for sale. Lots of abandoned buildings. I can only believe that the flooding and the age of the owners has a lot to do with it
