This is also a photo of where the phrase having something/someone "under your thumb" comes from. In falconry, they would hold that strap under their thumb when the falcon was on their arm. It's also where the phrase about having someone wrapped around their little finger came from - they would wrap the extra tether around their little finger.
Kyricom-I have to say I had a blast the day I went to shoot with the Falconer and his three Falcons. It was AWESOME...to have such majestic birds on my hand was amazing. I have always been intrigued by birds of prey and love to photograph them. Thank you for you comments and education regarding falconry.
