A great shot, but in my point of view if the main subject of the contest (friends) could be a little bit more visible, could be better.
In contrast to the other "jovial" images submitted so far, there appears to be some private "sadness" inherent in the way the subjects relate to and held each other. I do not wish to speculate on the reasons for my impression, but I thought that given the solemn privacy of the moment, a distance shot without too much facial recognition which at once captures a tender moment between two obviously close persons, and the bright warm "hopeful" morning sun streaming across three-quarters of the frame lighting up the ground and plants would be both non-intrusively appropriate and photographically pleasant.
And also these two persons are out for an early morning walk obviously to enjoy the warming sunshine and the fresh morning air and so the wooded parkland context in which the subjects are placed in the image is just as important to explain the moment.
Author, I can see your thinking behind this image, but feel some careful cropping could bring the subjects closer without loosing the atmosphere in the photo.
If there would have been a high res I could have judged this entry better. It looks to me that the persons are not in focus but that can be the small version of this shot as well. Might have gotten a higher vote from me if the high res was there because I do like the composition and the colors...
