This doesn't really seem too close up to me. A better shot would have been a shot close up of two or three of the chain links and try to capture the texture (rust and age) on them. That would be a good close up.

Better but can you get closer? Even focus on just one link?

Jawshoewhah, one link would not 'show a repeating pattern' as demanded by the theme..
What I meat as get closer to one link and have one in more focus than the rest. It would give it more depth and still show the repeating pattern.
