Pet Sideview - Photography Contest [50 entries]
Contest goal:
It's time for another pet photo contests, but this time there is a catch. It has to be a side profile, in other words, side view. You may include anything you want in the picture, but please make sure that your pet is the main focus and viewed from the side. Both portraits and full body shots are allowed. Since the term 'pet' can be explained in many ways we will allow most animals as pets. Animals such as gorilla, lions, tigers, bears and such will be off theme unless you can show proof that it is in fact a pet and not just at the zoo. Get creative and have fun!

MossyB: I'm more surprised by the number of entries that are CLEARLY not side views, showing dogs, mainly, with 3/4 front views and from the top - obvious angles that are not from the side...
The definition of a "pet" is: "a domesticated animal kept for companionship or amusement." While somewhat questionable, I can accept that some people keep ducks and geese as pets. My mother had a miniature chicken that lived in a plastic washtub on top of our washing machine and a tiny 1" egg every morning for her...lol! ( 5 years and 2709 days ago )

lolipop4400: i know only pets are allowed. i consider ducks, and geese, pets. i also consider snails and caterpillars as pets. IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR PERSONAL OPINION OF A PET IS. and side view doesn't completly mean a side view it can mean a slanted side view. the contest description didn't say it has to be a head on side view, although if you look at the contests descriptions picture it does suggest that. cut these people some slack...some are new to this. SIDE PROFILE. There is NO other "slanted view" that is a SIDE PROFILE...
While some "slack" is cut for language differences, when the contest description spells out exactly what view is wanted for the contest, it shouldn't be THAT HARD to follow instructions.
And I agree with meatman...Why ARE the views that are not CLEARLY side views STILL ALLOWED????

meatman: TY, Mossy. Hey, I have a pet bacteria that I could maybe enter. Gerald the Germ, I call him. The photo would be blank, so you will have to trust me. He is there, just not able to be seen with the human eye.

MossyB: When you can see the animals back, belly, or both eyes, it is NOT a profile side view...I agree with your meatman. Let us just hope that the mods are busy with Thanksgiving preparations, and will be addressing the ever-growing number of off theme, off subject photos, and culling all the entries that obviously don't fit...
