I took this photo of my hand in front of my computer monitor while holding a pair of polarized glasses so it cut out half the light from the monitor.
However when you do this without a camera you can see the light reflected off the hand and it looks extremely weird, I recommend you try it. However the effect doesn't work through a camera for some reason. (5 years and 3357 days ago)

not sure your monitor could be considered as a light source.
I disagree. I think your light source is fine. If it makes light and is but one source, then it's a light source. GL!
a polarizing filter on the lens might have worked.
The idea is great, but I think that the composition should have been better (imho)
