Hair animated GIF. See next step for brush used to create hair. Basically I start large for the base layer and build up from there using finer and finer brushes and a variety of colour (darker usually on the bottom)

Adjusted lighting using Levels adjustment layers set on Screen and Multiply (no real adjustment but using these keeps the file size smaller than adding an image layer)

Tree lighting/shadow. Did same to hilltop (not shown but the same method was used)

In addition to the above step I also changed the Fairies face quite a bit (Eye, shape and lips) and made her hand smaller (these Steps are not shown as they were minor. Basically for the face I just redrew it on a new layer using a low opacity brush and the smudge tool.
For enlarging the hand: I copied the hand and pasted over the original, reduced the size, cloned out the edge of the original hand (again on a new layer over the original) then blended the 3 layer with masks.
