One of the best things in the world is to see that your work is appreciated and admired. Ruadh gets plenty of that, because he’s a very talented photographer and digital artist, at the same time.
He has the ability to take what some would consider a simple picture and turn it into something with a deep meaning and rich in visual effects.
We have the honor of presenting today a 50 showcase of photos and photo-manipulations, along with an exclusive interview with Ruadh Delone, where he offers advice and reveals some of his artistic secrets.
Q: Hello Ruadh and welcome to the Pxleyes community. Please tell us a few words about yourself.
I live in Holland nearby the city Arnhem and take care of my four kids and work as a freelance photographer. I have no education at all in photography but used to draw a lot from when I was a young boy. I was born on the 9th of November 1969, so that makes me 41 years old.
Q: When did you take the first step in this field of art?
Well, the word art is something I do not believe in because the one who makes it is able to make it and in my opinion art is something which can’t be created. It’s only the viewer who can name things art.
But to answer the question, late 2007 I bought myself a Pentax K10D because I didn’t have the time anymore to draw and found out a camera could do the job in 1/125ste of a second.
Q: Your artwork is very inspiring and beautiful. Are you a photographer or a photo-manipulation artist?
Basically I am a photographer but the camera is just a fast tool to gain a certain goal. If a brush could do it as fast as a camera I would be a painter.
So I think I am more a postprocessing boy because that phase of the process I really enjoy doing.
Q: Is there something that inspires you while creating your work or does it all come from your imagination?
There are some people who inspire me. For example Gottfried Helnwein, Jill Greenberg, David Bowie, Tim Burton, Christopher Walken, Johannes Vermeer but above all my four kids.
The things I make do all come from my own imagination but of course you get influenced by the things you see around you or the songs you listen.

Q: A little piece of advice please, for beginners of pxl art.
Never look too much at others or use filters or plug ins. Follow your own path and start drawing before shooting images. I believe drawing and painting should be the basic for photography.
