Thanks every one. Darkrider - while the idea isn't anything new (not sure anything is thesedays), I haven't posted this pic anywhere else as I only took it last night (well about 15 attempts before everyone else got tired of sitting in the dark) Reply »

Thank-you everyone for your comments - you wouldn't believe how many times I had to shoot this to get the light trails that I was happy with lol! Good thing digital frames are 'free' Reply »

Thanks for confirming me as a friend. I 've enjoyed your entries especially the Royal Flush special effect. I've got a tutorial about it and only need the pin light to start trying it. I hope it turns out as good as your entry. Again thanks for the friend. Reply »

Chicken Little - created by FallingHorse
This one is more likely destined for the 'show-ring' rather than the chopping block. We have a saying on the farm - anything that gets named is not game :)
Bred from our favourite Rhode Island Red rooster. (185 days ago)
lol 6 tann - I was not satisfied with the colour either ! This is our kitchen wall - you wouldn't believe the argument over which colour to paint it, though I must secretly admit that it has grown on me

Less than 40% of subject showing!!! (358 days ago)
Whatever Kyricom - it's your theme suggestion but I remind you that it says the following:
" perform a 'close crop' on a subject of your choice"
perhaps you should of written "perform a 'close crop' on a subject of your choice with the exception of people."
I notice on other headshots you commented that they were cool shots and didn't refer to them as a "cop out"!! Reply »

Even though I can't see the rest of the photo, I am supposing that no matter what, this kids face would be the subject, so really 40 % of this kids face should be cropped. I had mine removed too and had to fix it and I realized afterward what was meant by cropping the subject. I think what the mods are looking for is cropping 40% of the subject or focal point. Reply »

Well k5683, the term Close Crop is a form of composition, it doesn't mean that we all get out our Photoshop and chop our pictures until there is only 40% left. In this image I have cropped him closely by placing his eye on the line that would be consistant with the rule of thirds. In my opinion, a little bit more thought has been put into it. I don't normally enter contest themes that degrade the quality of my images, and if I thought that the theme required us to chop it up then the entry wouldn't be here. Reply »

I understand what you mean. In fact, I didn't want to crop mine more either I had already cropped the picture as a whole 40% but they wanted me to crop more because the actual "focal point" or subject wasn't cropped. I love this photo and I'm sure it'll do great just because the quality and everything about it is awesome. Who knows what is wanted here sometimes
some get flagged and removed even though others don't that fall under the same situation. Luck of the draw I guess

Funny, yet a lot of people will get their children's ear pierced
Unlike children, cattle are not tagged for cosmetic reasons but to assist in identifying cattle that have been tested for diseases such as tuberculosis. We now use electronic ear tags as a national requirement for movement of stock which even identifies the property from which it comes from. The aim is to keep the industry free from disease like mad cows disease and instill confidence in the consumer purchasing the products from the supermarket

Camping Under the Stars - created by FallingHorse
172 stacked x 30 second exposures, f5, ISO 100 (343 days ago)
Thanks Amanda& Friiskiwi - Stacked shots are multiples of shots from the same spot. Just think of the stacks as all of the photos placed on top of one another. A 'star-trails' program then just blends all of these images into one and with any luck, the only movement is the position of the stars, hence the 'trails' Reply »

Actually - that is a rather ignorant view. It has Nothing to do with chopping, it is overlaying the same image multiple times.
