From the hallows it emerged. I created all of the maps.
I created the hand using a box and just used diffuse colors for the material. The hole was made by rearranging vertices on a plane and then insetting and dragging the inner polygons down. The ground material was created by using a dark brown background in Photoshop and then using root brushes, I made it look like cracked earth. I then desaturated the image and adjusted the levels for a bump map. The bump map was set to 45. I made two omni lights (one red, one yellow) in the bottom of the hole to simulate fire, and one omni light in the back tinted dark orange. I then spiced it up with a little volume fog and done.
