Unfortunately I cannot take credit for the awesome robots or enemy fighters, sources are provide for them.
I designed the bridge, did the lighting, environment, etc.

Really needs to be viewed in high res! (5 years and 3247 days ago)

The main focus when I look at this picture is the robots, unfortunately, you did not make them. (I know you gave the original creator credit). But it seems misleading...

Just my opinion...

Nice design and colors, the water (in fact mostly the reflection) is a bit less convincing imo. Good luck!

nizeee.. i dont know anything of 3D but is there anyway to make the wood look more real?, i mean it looks like its made of one piece.. while a ship is made of planks?

avatar nishagandhi

wow!!!!!!

author says:

KingRafox, a reald gold comment. Now the ship is made from planks.

Really nice render on the ship! The cannons are too large, and they made a lot of smoke when fired, but good work.

author says:

Thanks, CMYK. Made cannons smaller and add some smoke with fire effect and two atmospheric gizmos in max. Im not very happy with Max effect, if anyone help me with an idea for 3 D smoke really appriciate.

The only way I know is either particle based, but you would have to render seperate and composite or in MAYA there are paint effects you could use, I am not sure MAX has the same tools.

author says:

youpee, it works ! Thanks Dante and Warlock. I used a Pclouds particle and a material made upon tutorial indicate by Warlock, just adapted to a V-Ray mtl. Grateful. Get crazy when i think is a 10 secunds photoshop work. 3D life is tough.

avatar ramananjv
ramananjv says:

yeah looking gud.. from the high resolution image i guess u didnt use the indirect illumination..i.e no light bounces and perfect shadows appear..so do have a check on that and with the fire effect it does nt look like fire

author says:

Thanks. Ramananjv, I've checked settings of final render and the only light with shadows, a Direct as sun. GI is open but if you have time see new step 15 and if is smtg wrong pls let me know. As for fire effect...finally I didnt use Max Fire, looks really crap, on the cannon i have only an omni light with Lens Effects and the smoke effect.

Very cool - except what you have is a schooner (two masts) which had a completely different kind of hull. You need a third (smaller) mast at the back.

author says:

Thanks. Kyricom, there is a third mast on back, is broken and in its way to fall.

avatar kyricom
kyricom says:

Oh yes, I see now. Sorry. Might consider having the base of the mast stick up a little higher to make it more noticeable. Nice

ZBrush, 3 DS max, V-Ray render (5 years and 3474 days ago)

Based on your SBS the helmet looked good in ZBrush. But it seems to have lost some details on your final render. Actually I found it hard to see what it was in HI-Res. Anyway, no hard feelings, because of the lack of time to fix anything before the deadline I'll base my vote on the SBS-version instead.

author says:

Dka, perfect. After I read your comment I begin to digg like a fool on tutorials, helps...you know...everything. And, surprise . I discovered that transphering the wavefront object and the displacement map from ZBrush to Max is not enough to keep all details. I have to use also a V Ray displacement map. At this moment dont know how to do it. Never mind. next time. Thanks, man, I feel like Columbus, I see America but I cant touch it.
