This idea instantly came to mind when i saw the image. I used a brush and image from a disc supplied by Advanced Photoshop by imagine publishing. I will show the image in the step by step.

In a tower far, far away...

I used some external images glows, soft brushes, some external brushes and i made the navi(Zelda) using brushes and a glow effect.

We hate creatures!

I used glow effects, the clone tool a sword, highlight and shadows and also the blood was made with the brush. If you vote , thanks!

The All Knowing Meerkat

I used loads of layers on overlay to get multiple colours for the fur and nails. I used a lens flare and a hue/sat layer and the blur tool to get the eye aura. I used glow effects and at the end i put in a vinigrette. No external sources were used

I used adj layers for hue/saturation and brightness. I used glows. I used a horn from an eternal source. I used a paint brush to darken edges.
