Forest fairy - created by skyangel

She watches her steps so she doesn't tread on any tiny creatures.

The rose and green stem section were cut out separately and transformed to fit as a skirt for the child. The bokeh background was added and extra circles were painted on it freehand. The mushrooms were cut out and placed around the model. Sections of the forest floor were cut and pasted into the scene. Lots of masking, color changing, and layer blend modes were used.
Finally an oil paint filter was added to give a painterly feel. (5 years and 145 days ago)

Tinkerbell - Look Out for the Wall - created by BWR

like the smashing into the wall...but having trouble with sunk in on the corner of a building perhaps wing and hand sticking out or move to wall only

CMYK46 says:

Please check the source image. It's only the shade of the wall that makes it look like she's on a corner. (Author, not the best choice of sources because of that optical illusion...).

(5 years and 227 days ago)

Majkman says:

I see it and yes the shade of the wall is a factor and the illusion but still original seems to have plaster edge ..which I assume the author fixed> I agree not the best choice of source and or placement. still nice work

(5 years and 227 days ago)

author says:

This was very difficult for me to make. 11 days of work which took over my life. Finding those sources was a chore. I have no clue as to what would be a better source for incorporating Tinkerbelll crashing into a a wall with Capt Hook and others looking on.

But what I did in the meantime was to make the wall all one color and added another window with Peter Pan which hopefully will make the wall look flat. Did a little brushing on her hands to make them go more into the walll, but honestly I can't do any better.

I can say that I poured my heart and soul into this Chop and was one of the most time consuming pieces I have ever made @ 60+ hours.

Love the cartonish effect of the fairy hitting the wall, well done!
On other aspects I would have made other choices I think. I'm wondering if the 3 other figures are needed. You might have made the whole image stronger without them and focusing on adding other attributes instead.
Just my 2 cents

author says:

"I'm wondering if the 3 other figures are needed. You might have made the whole image stronger without them and focusing on adding other attributes instead."

Haha. I felt that all the way through, but I was committed to my original idea of having the others looking on. WTH... I went with your suggestion and what was always my gut feeling. Banzai!!

Majkman says:

Well done author
After all the work you put into it I belive looks much better IMHO

PS..I found the other characters a bit too "cartoonish" for this pic also and now your focus is centered on the crash

author says:

Appreciate your insight Majkman. A 2nd, 3rd, 4th set of eyes tends to help. As you do these things, you see them from your perspective. Something that looks flat to me (because I know the source images) can look like a corner to someone else for example. It's always a learning experience.

(5 years and 226 days ago)

author says:

Could have done this so much better if I stayed with just the fairy from the get go. Haha. Such is life.

Author, please add the links for the moon, cow, stars, the mad hatter on the book cover and the castle. I think you forgot to turn on the layer for the wolf's shadow.

author says:

OK, I added source links in the description for the moon, cow, stars, the Mad Hatter on the book. The stars were made in PS. First Layer of smaller stars was made by Noise > Levels > Blur. Then a 2nd Layer with larger stars was made by Noise > Levels > Blur > Outer Glow. The 2nd Layer was masked so that only the white stars showed. The stars show up much better in the hi-res version.

author says:

Maybe I should make a tutorial for the stars. After-all, if they fooled a Photoshop Genius like yourself, they must be pretty good huh?

avatar lchappell
lchappell says:

Lot of work here, I like what you've done. Check the masking/blending around the mad hatter's feet though.

author says:

Thanks lchappell. I've only ever been "fair" at making shadows. I am assuming you were talking about the shadows making her look like she was "floating" rather than blending into the ground. I believe I fixed it. Good eye and thanks again.

(5 years and 614 days ago)

avatar lchappell
lchappell says:

Author there is improvement on the shadow/grounding effect. Maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks on me, but in hi-res I am still seeing a fine light color trace along the shoes. Maybe the burn tool or a small clone stamp along the edges in the shadows would take care of that. Nice composition, good luck.

author says:

I zoomed in pretty far and don't see any white fringing on the shoes. Here is a zoomed in image. Thanks for your help.

This is a lovely image. I think the bear is fine the way it is, but I don't understand the woman standing on the bed. Still, I like it.

Thanks Bob Well, when I read about The Goldilocks and The Three Bears, the tale starts with a girl who enters the forest home of three bachelor bears whilst they are away. When they return home, they find the girl in their bed. She suddenly jumps up, escapes and is nver seen again..I just tried my best with a twist
